Artist in Residence at

York Teaching Hospital

Various freelance project commissions and volunteering starting February 2020 - May 2022

The aim of the Arts Team at York Teaching Hospital is to support the delivery of excellence in healthcare by providing a participatory arts programme that encourages patient, staff and visitor well-being and improves the experience of being in the hospital environment.

I have worked on various projects, both commissioned and voluntary with the art team, delivering participatory art sessions at York and Easingwold Renal Units. The first project I got involved with, worked in partnership with the Laurence Sterne Trust, aiming to explore the 18th Century novel, “The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman” by Laurence Sterne. When the project was put on hold because of the pandemic, I worked in collaboration with artist Tabitha Grove to produce an art pack and resource book that individuals could engage with during their dialysis treatment.

I also volunteered my time after the pandemic, to continue the work with individuals. I wanted to explore the potential of engaging individuals with varying artforms within a clinical environment.
