Holding, 2024
Clay, glaze, black stain
Dimensions: 6” x 5”
Holding reflects on many layers of entwining embraces and was intended to depict birds’ eggs. I recognised myself in the opening of the smallest egg, which I thought as a cuckoo’s beak, a symbol of brood parasitism. The glaze was imperfect, with the succession of glazed holding environments, each having an impact on each other. The piece was made as a process artwork in response to my clinical training placement.
